Domaine Trouillet

Chardonnay is one of those grapes that has become so popular it gets mistreated all over the world, making it hard to remember why it became popular in the first place. Fortunately, there are producers like Domaine Trouillet in Burgundy. Producers who do everything to bring out the grape's soul and succeed in doing so. Yes, this is what chardonnay really tastes like. The story of Domaine Trouillet begins a few generations back when great-grandfather Jules took on four hectares in the area where Burgundy's various Pouilly appellations are found. You know, Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Loché, and Pouilly-Vinzelles. Today, granddaughter Marie-Agnès and great-grandson William run the show and have, to be on the safe side, expanded to a good twenty hectares and added Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Solutré to the three earlier appellations. Delicious, and hats off, we say.
