Forward Tuscany through the ages! In Italy, there are a family or two that have been making wine since time immemorial. One of them is the Folonari family. Today, they are on their eighth generation, and since quite recently - or more precisely the year 2000 - the Giovanni Folonari family works exclusively with quality-oriented estates in Tuscany. Earlier projects that included more volume-oriented products now exist only as history in the family annals. It's really impossible to summarise this producer in a few simple lines, but we'll try nonetheless. Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari, as the company is now called, owns several estates in Tuscany and offers a broad range of quality wines. Wines united by a disciplined and unmistakably Italian winemaking approach. The wines are consistently polished, elegant, clean, and well-balanced so that the grape's natural fruit and aromas never get lost, not even when it comes to extended oak ageing, which as is well known can be the case in areas like Brunello di Montalcino, where regulations require long periods in barrel. We like and recommend most of what comes from Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari but want to especially mention their fantastic Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta La Fuga and the super wine Cabreo Il Borgo from Tenute del Cabreo. Alongside these, you'll find such delights as their Chianti Classico from Tenuta di Nozzole and their classic Nobile di Montepulciano from Torcalvano Gracciano.
