Mr Riggs was founded in 2001 by winemaker Ben Riggs, after he had spent decades at the legendary Wirra Wirra winery. The estate draws on Ben's extensive network of growers from regions including Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley, Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, and McLaren Vale. Mr. Riggs' winemaking philosophy is to make unpretentious wines that express the essence of the vineyard and the regional terroir in a style that Ben enjoys drinking: big, rich, and complex, but also with finesse, texture, and elegance - even if the latter qualities are not necessarily ones Ben himself possesses, by his own admission. Mr. Riggs wines are shaped by Ben's considerable European experience, as well as his unique vision for wines produced on his beloved home turf in South Australia.
